NICK FEINT
Here is information supplied by Nick:
My name is Nick Feint and I live at an Intentional Community called Tui in Golden Bay with my partner Sybille and child Theo. We enjoy a fantastic lifestyle with a beach across the road, Abel Tasman National Park across the fence and great weather. I have built my dream studio here to work from and get a real kick out of having all the tools I need at my fingertips, although like any good workshop it is always a work in progress.
Stone Arrow Jewellery is a small manufacturing jewellery business I have been running for about 10 years selling work through galleries all over New Zealand.
My more creative urges are poured into my passion for stone carving, mostly Pounamu but anything real hard is fine by me. I have had pieces accepted into the New Zealand National Pounamu and Jade Exhibition in 2000, 2002 and 2004. In 2000 I won the Premier Award for Adornment with my work Pod now on permanent display in the National Collection in the Left Bank Art Gallery in Greymouth.
One of my favorite design mottos is you can never have too many spirals although I do occasionally make things without spirals in them. My main inspiration comes from nature and natural forms, I like to work with the natural shape of the stone when I can. Mostly an image comes into my head when I hold a piece of stone and I go for it.
